Position: Building Attendant (PT)
Location: Trail

This position will be open until Friday, June 12th.

The City of Rosemount is accepting applications for part‑time Building Attendants at the Rosemount Community Center/Ice Arena and Rosemount Steeple Center. Approximately 6 – 20 hours/week working weekends, primarily Sundays, and occasionally evenings depending on scheduled activities.

The Building Attendant performs work monitoring and maintaining city facilities and grounds, coordinating minor maintenance and repairs, performing landscaping and custodial tasks, providing customer service, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the supervision of the Recreation Facilities Manager.

  • Cleans and maintains city facilities; sweeps and vacuums floors; maintains walls, tables, and chairs; empties waste baskets and disposes materials.
  • Operates and maintains assigned equipment.
  • Maintains assigned equipment and ensures proper functionality.
  • Provides customer service and assists the general public with inquiries; directs inquiries to the appropriate resource as needed.
  • Performs room and equipment set‑ups; arranges tables and chairs; sets up and operates audiovisual equipment; assists with programming and activity set up as needed.
  • Maintains facility security; monitors events and provides crowd control as needed.
  • Monitors and maintains supply inventory; reorders supplies as needed.
  • Monitors HVAC and other building equipment to ensure proper functionality.
  • Maintains park shelters; conducts minor outdoor maintenance, landscaping, and snow removal.
  • Attends training and other meetings as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Duties specific to the Ice Arena/Community Center:

  • Monitors arena mechanical systems and air quality.
  • Investigates mechanical problems and performs minor repairs; replaces light bulbs, filters, and performs minor repair of door hardware.
  • May operate ice re‑surfacers/ice edgers; performs other ice‑making procedures depending on work assignment.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or G.E.D.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Valid Driver's License.
Preferred Qualifications
  • One year of building maintenance experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of community center/ice arena operations preferred.
  • One year of customer service work preferred.
  • Previous experience operating ice re‑surfacers preferred for arena positions.
Working Conditions

Physical Requirements and Activity

This work requires the regular exertion of up to 10 pounds of force, frequent exertion of up to 25 pounds of force and occasional exertion of up to 50 pounds of force; work regularly requires standing, walking, speaking or hearing, using hands to finger, handle or feel, pushing or pulling and repetitive motions and occasionally requires sitting, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, reaching with hands and arms, tasting or smelling and lifting.

Requirements

Work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels.

Sensory Utilization

Work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, visual inspection involving small defects and/or small parts, using of measuring devices, operating machines, operating motor vehicles or equipment and observing general surroundings and activities.

Environmental Conditions

Work occasionally requires wet, humid conditions (non‑weather), working near moving mechanical parts, exposure to fumes or airborne particles, exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals, exposure to outdoor weather conditions and exposure to extreme cold (non‑weather); work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic).
