HIGHWAY MAINTENANCE WORKER - LE SUEUR HIGHWAY SHOP

A full time Highway Maintenance Worker position is available in the Highway Department at the Le Sueur Shop. This position performs intermediate skilled trades work in the installation, maintenance, cleaning and repair of public roadways, buildings and property, operating various types of equipment, performing a variety of maintenance and repair tasks, responding to after hour or emergency needs, and related work as apparent or assigned.

Work is performed under the limited supervision of the Highway Maintenance Supervisor.

• Performs road and equipment maintenance including cleaning, maintenance, installation and repair, snow maintenance and cleanup, sanding and salting, installing signage, repairing and replacing surfaces, cleaning culverts, cutting, trimming and treating trees and brush, installing mailboxes, and general turf maintenance.
• Attends various meetings.
• Participates in taking equipment and supply inventory.
• Performs above duties for other municipalities and governments.
• Operates a variety of material moving equipment used in the maintenance and repair of gravel and bituminous highways, and in the maintenance of roadside ditches.
• Assists with inspecting equipment to ensure proper fuel levels, tire pressure and overall condition are conducive to safe operations; reports broken or malfunctioning parts or equipment to the supervisor.
• Performs routine maintenance to vehicles and equipment including cleaning, changing oil and greasing parts.
• Logs daily activities including time spent on each job, gas consumption, and maintenance performed or required, etc.

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL).

Starting wage is $28.66 per hour plus health insurance, life insurance, retirement plan, vacation/sick/holiday pay and many other voluntary benefits.
