Job Description

The City of Oakdale's mission is to provide high-quality, reliable services and foster a safe, clean, and welcoming community. Oakdale Discovery Center is one of the community's gems - join our team and be part of keeping this gem open and available to the public! We are hiring for a member of our building supervisor staff; part-time, flexible hours (primarily evenings and weekends) to provide excellent service, help with room set-up, and ensure the Discovery Center amenities are available and ready for use.

Expectations

This position is responsible for the overall supervision of the Oakdale Discovery Center during evening and weekends.

  • Responsible for room set-up and ensuring the guest experience is a good one
  • Conduct light custodial work throughout the building to be certain it is clean, well-stocked, and welcoming
  • Greet visitors, provide excellent public service, and represent the city in alignment with our mission, vision, and core values
  • Willingness and ability to effectively complete both routine and repetitive tasks as well as a variety of miscellaneous tasks
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and work independently
  • Ability to work effectively with others, provide excellent service, and be responsive and anticipatory to user needs
  • Ability to move and arrange light furniture and complete room set-up
  • Other duties as assigned or directed

- Occasionally climbs a few steps, balance, bend/stoop, kneel, crouch, squat, crawl, reach above shoulder level, sit, stand, walk, finder/enter data/keystroke, feel, talk, or hear, and/or exerts up to 25 pounds of force frequently and/or occasionally to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. While performing the duties of this job, this position will use: close vision, far vision, depth perception, visual acuteness, color vision, and peripheral vision.

While performing the duties of this job, this position will use their right hand for simple, firm, and fine handling or manipulation and will use their left hand for simple, firm, and fine handling or manipulation. While performing the duties of this job, this position will use their right foot and/or left foot for repetitive movements. Surroundings Low Risk – Exposure to inside environmental conditions where it is adequately lighted, ventilated and heated, and normal precautions must be observed.

Minimum Qualifications

To perform this position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the formal education, experience and training required.

  • At least 18 years of age at time of hire
  • Have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Able to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends

The requirements listed below are representative of the formal education, experience and training preferred in order to exceptionally perform all of the functions of this position.

  • CPR trained
