ES Night Custodian

Job Objective: The Building Custodian performs general cleaning and light maintenance to provide clean, safe, and pleasant surroundings for staff and students.

Hours: As assigned; may require alternating Friday evenings and Saturdays for special weekend events.

Performance Responsibilities:

• Vacuums, sweeps, mops, and/or cleans classrooms, restrooms, hallways, gyms, and cafeteria; gathers and empties trash.
• Sets up equipment (chairs, bleachers) for Community Education classes, sports events, concerts, meetings, or other special events as requested.
• Cleans chairs, desks, lockers, and other equipment.
• Secures the building at night, setting alarms and locking doors and windows.
• Maintains proficiency in proper hazardous waste management and biohazard spill handling procedures.

Abilities

Required:

• Knowledgeable about and able to follow all district policies.
• Able to communicate clearly via 2-way radio.
• Able to respond quickly to emergencies, assess situations, and take appropriate action.

Physical Demands:

• Able to lift 50 pounds independently; 100 pounds with assistance or equipment, using proper lifting techniques.
• Able to sit or stand for extended periods.
• Able to bend, kneel, and reach in all directions to lift, move, and clean.
• Able to ascend and descend a ladder while performing cleaning duties.
• Able to use hands to operate keys, locks, and doorknobs.
• Subject to temperature extremes, confined spaces, elevated work surfaces, and exposure to biohazard waste and cleaning chemical hazards/odors.
