Assignment

Wages and Benefits

Minimum base pay rate: $23.34 (Class I, Step I with additional $2.00/hour differential). Shift differential: 65 cents/hour for third shift. Medical and dental benefit eligible position.

Custodian

Job Responsibilities
  • Performs routine and project cleaning of assigned classrooms, offices, and corridors. Duties include emptying waste receptacles, vacuuming and/or sweeping floors, emptying sharpeners, cleaning/disinfecting sinks and fountains, straightening and cleaning furniture, refinish hard surface floors, carpet extraction, and marker and chalk board cleaning.
  • With the direction of the Facilities Manager, coordinate, schedule and give work direction to the custodial staff for the completion of project cleaning and building use. Interacts with building occupants to ensure doors are open, equipment needed is available, and all of their needs for the facility are met.
  • Performs routine and project cleaning of assigned lavatories and locker rooms. Duties include cleaning and disinfecting lavatory fixtures, sinks, walls, floors, mirrors, and dispensers. Keeps paper and soap dispensers filled and functioning, empties waste receptacles and maintains odor control.
  • Perform minor maintenance duties including, but not limited to: cleaning and lubricating univents, changing filters, changing light bulbs and ballasts, adjusting equipment and furniture, small painting projects.
  • Responsible for securing the facility including closing and locking windows, locking doors, ensuring security lights are operating, and activating the security alarm.
  • Performs exterior maintenance including lawn mowing, trimming, cleaning exterior windows and walls, and ensuring all sidewalks and stairs are free of ice and snow.
  • Operates a variety of equipment including, but not limited to: vacuum cleaners, battery‑operated floor scrubbers, rotary floor machines, carpet extractors, pressure washers, snow blowers, lawn mowers, weed whips, and power brooms.
  • Reports all needed repairs to the building head custodian.

Job Responsibilities
  • Provide supervision over the custodial staff on the second shift, including inspecting work areas, training new staff, giving work direction, and providing input on performance reviews.
  • Attend leadership training provided by the district.
  • Communicate with the head custodian.
  • Carry the building cell phone.
  • Lock the building at night.
  • Be responsible for checking heating, cooling, ventilation, and life safety systems of the facility during the evening shift and reporting any issues/concerns to the head custodian.
Job Qualifications
  • Evidence of a special engineer/boiler operator's license or the ability to sign up for the special engineer exam within 30 days and obtain the required license within 6 months.
  • Evidence of excellent leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Detail oriented with demonstrated ability to organize and maintain records.
  • Demonstrated accurate mathematical skills.
  • Customer service oriented with positive inter‑personal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively, successfully complete a pre‑placement physical capabilities examination at Concentra at the District's expense.
