Equipment Operator​/CDL

Position Summary

To operate equipment safely and efficiently assigned, while meeting production goals and quality standards, and mentoring apprentices and operator techs to help them grow in their roles and operating capabilities.

Essential Functions

• CDL with no restrictions required.
• Safely operate equipment, maintain daily inspection logs, and perform daily preventative maintenance checks.
• Operate equipment efficiently to increase engagement and decrease downtime, and communicate any issues to project supervision.
• Collaborate with team members to support their growth and progress towards project goals.
• Utilize assigned technology to operate more efficiently, reduce cycle times, and ensure proper drainage.
• Understand soil and compaction requirements and communicate field experiences related to soil types to supervision.
• Perform all tasks safely, maintaining an incident-free work environment for all.
• Pass employer performance or standard tests to meet certification standards.
• Perform only procedures in which certified.
• Observe and comply with all safety and project rules.
• Perform other duties as requested.

Position Qualifications

• Ability to read and comprehend civil plans.
• Safely lead crews to ensure quality and production.
• Experience troubleshooting machine control systems.
• Complete operator skills test for motor grader.
• Work effectively within a team.
• Knowledge of soil conditions and earthmoving.
• Ability to measure and calculate accurately.
• Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and maintenance skills.
• Effective communication with supervisors and team members.
• Implement site safety and work-task plans.
• Recognize and correct job site hazards.
• Make judgments and decisions at the task level.
