Position Summary

The Maintenance Mechanic, Long Term Care supports building operations and resident safety within a long-term care environment by performing preventive maintenance, repairs, and basic construction tasks on equipment, building systems, and physical structures. This role responds to work orders, troubleshoots maintenance issues, and assists with projects that help maintain a functional, safe, and comfortable setting for residents, visitors, and staff. Working both independently and as part of a collaborative facilities team, the Maintenance Mechanic, Homes follows applicable codes, safety standards, and organizational policies while contributing to dependable operations and a well-maintained care environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine and preventive maintenance on building systems, equipment, and fixtures in resident rooms, common areas, and support spaces.
  • Respond to maintenance requests and work orders, assessing needs and completing repairs or adjustments within scope of role.
  • Assist with minor plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and mechanical tasks under applicable codes and facility policies.
  • Monitor building conditions, identify potential safety or operational issues, and communicate concerns to leadership.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and work spaces in clean, safe condition and follow lockout/tagout and other safety procedures.
  • Collaborate with nursing, environmental services, and other departments to minimize disruption during maintenance activities.
