POSITION SUMMARYThis manual labor position temporarily assists Property Management Staff in the maintenance and upkeep of regional properties, facilities and camp(s) to support the safety, health and well-being of campers, volunteers and staff of the Girl Scouts of Central Illinois Council.
ACCOUNTABILITIES- Provide grounds-keeping duties including but not limited to mowing, trimming, trail-clearing and generally keeping grounds and buildings in good working order.
- Report general conditions of properties to the Site Manager.
- Provide janitorial duties including, but not limited to, stocking of consumable products, cleaning facilities and equipment, changing light bulbs and pressure washing.
- Ensure safe operation of council equipment at all times and report equipment in need of repair.
- Provide basic equipment maintenance including but not limited to cleaning blades, airing tires, lubricating machinery.
- Perform small repair work including but not limited to repair of tents, platforms, tables, and fencing, or painting.
- Coordinate and participate in various special projects as assigned and other related duties incidental to the work described.
- Make purchases as authorized.
- Participate or assist in activities and programs as requested.
- Drive council mowers and utility vehicles as needed.
- Provide required documentation, receipts and records of maintenance and work performed as requested or required.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Insure diversity and pluralism is embraced and incorporated into the work of the council.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS- Be a currently registered member of Girl Scouts of the USA or willing to become one.
- Minimum 21 years of age.
- Minimum one year related manual labor and maintenance experience required.
- Experience and demonstrated skills with machinery, light carpentry and electrical beneficial.
- Ability to work independently and be self-motivated.
- Ability to multi-task.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings/weekends to perform some weather-dependent tasks.
- Ability to travel to council service centers and other related training as job requires.
- Ability to provide positive customer service to girls and volunteers.
- Demonstrate a commitment to the mission of the Girl Scout movement and ability to communicate the mission to others.
- Possess a valid driver’s license that meets the council insurance company’s requirement for coverage.

- Walking, standing, bending, stooping, reaching and moderate lifting.
- Must be able to lift up to approximately 75 lbs.
- Exposure to seasonal weather conditions and allergens and working outdoors in summer heat.
- Driving zero-turn radius riding lawn mowers.
- Use of gas powered weed eaters, log splitters, chainsaw.
- Driving property vehicles.
All staff must be conversant with the safety rules and regulations. They must take reasonable steps to ensure their own health and safety, and that of anyone else who may be affected by their actions. They should inform their manager/supervisor of any hazard with which they are not trained to deal.
