Wastewater Collection Technician II or Senior

Position: Wastewater Collection Technician- I, II or Senior
• Effectively manages assignments and priorities to ensure the fulfillment of projects, tasks, and responsibilities
• Installs manhole rings and covers and demonstrates the ability to adjust manhole ring and cover to grade as needed
• Enters accurate data into the Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS), including timekeeping, creating work orders, and work order tasks
** EMERGENCY RESPONSE STATUS:
** As a condition of employment, City of Largo employees will be required to work as directed during an undeclared and/or a declared emergency. All employees are subject to recall around the clock for emergency response operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the normal work location, and may include duties other than those specified in the official job description.
• High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
• Florida Water and Pollution Control Operators Association (FWPCOA) Wastewater Collections "C" Certification within two (2) years of hire
** Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:*
* • Knowledge of maintenance and repair procedures for wastewater utility system
• Knowledge of the occupational hazards of the trade and proper use of safety procedures
• Ability to learn training information and apply knowledge to demonstrate competency
• Ability to operate equipment used for the repair of wastewater lines
• Ability to understand and carry out instructions and to complete work assignments correctly
• Ability to perform heavy manual labor for extended periods, often under hot and humid conditions
• Ability to install, maintain, and repair sanitary sewer lines
• Ability to read and understand blueprints and as-built drawings
• Ability to work a flexible work schedule, including callouts
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other City employees, department officials, and the public

* Physical Requirements:

** The essential functions of the job require: sitting approximately two (2) hours per day, standing approximately four (4) hours per day, and walking approximately two (2) hours per day. The job also requires frequent: bending/stooping, grasping, kneeling, and lifting/carrying objects weighing up to 15 pounds; occasional climbing of a ladder; fine manipulations, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motion; lifting/carrying objects weighing up to 45 pounds, and on rare occasions lifting/carrying objects weighing more than 60 pounds.

** Sensory Requirements:
** Hearing:
Ability to detect proper equipment operation, detect alarms, and understand what others say in normal conversation and on the telephone. Speaking:
Ability to communicate orally with others and speak effectively on the phone. Seeing:
Ability to see and read computer monitor screens, operate a vehicle and equipment, and read normal print.
** Driving Requirements:
** The work requires frequent driving and possession of a valid Florida CDL.
** Technology:
** The work requires the ability to operate telephones, smartphones, tablets, photocopiers, printers, desktop and/or laptop computers, calculators, and all associated software.

** Other Machines:
** The work requires the ability to operate the following machines: dump trucks, bobcat excavators, and backhoes.
** Tools:
** The work requires proficiency with shovels, crescent and pipe wrenches, ratchets, hammers, electric and gas saws, pump pliers, tubing cutters, drills, cement mixers, vacuum machines, and power gate turners.
