General Statement of the Function

Job Summary

This role reports to Physical Plant Operations and is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, safety and appearance of the campus facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Facility Cleaning – Sweep, mop, vacuum, and dust floors and surfaces throughout the building.
  • Restroom Maintenance – Clean and sanitize restrooms; restock soap, paper products, and supplies.
  • Trash Removal – Empty trash and recycling bins; transport waste to designated disposal areas.
  • Surface Sanitization – Disinfect high‑touch surfaces to maintain a healthy environment.
  • Minor Maintenance – Replace light bulbs, report repairs, and perform basic building upkeep.
  • Event Setup – Arrange furniture, equipment, and room layouts for meetings or events.
  • Safety Compliance – Follow safety procedures, use cleaning chemicals properly, and maintain equipment.
  • Outdoor Upkeep – Assist with light groundskeeping such as sweeping walkways or clearing debris.
Qualifications
  • Education – High School Diploma or GED.
  • Experience – Previous custodial or janitorial experience preferred.
  • Physical Requirements – Ability to lift 25–50 lbs, stand for long periods, and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Skills – Attention to detail, reliability, time management, and ability to work independently.
Physical Demands

The employee is regularly required to use hands, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. The employee frequently must stand, walk, sit, and sometimes stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, and lift up to 50 pounds. Visual acuity and focus adjustments are often required.

Work Environment

The work environment includes moderate noise levels and occasional outdoor or off‑site duties.
