General Statement of the FunctionAll Hinds Community College employees must commit to the Caring Campus approach to student engagement and daily apply these general behavioral objectives: listen to student questions and concerns with a positive attitude and make meaningful connections with students.
Key Responsibilities- Facility Cleaning – Sweep, mop, vacuum, and dust floors and surfaces throughout the building.
- Restroom Maintenance – Clean and sanitize restrooms; restock soap, paper products, and supplies.
- Trash Removal – Empty trash and recycling bins; transport waste to designated disposal areas.
- Surface Sanitization – Disinfect high‑touch surfaces to maintain a healthy environment.
- Minor Maintenance – Replace light bulbs, report repairs, and perform basic building upkeep.
- Event Setup – Arrange furniture, equipment, and room layouts for meetings or events.
- Safety Compliance – Follow safety procedures, use cleaning chemicals properly, and maintain equipment.
- Outdoor Upkeep – Assist with light groundskeeping such as sweeping walkways or clearing debris.
- Education – High School Diploma or GED (minimum baseline for entry).
- Experience – Previous custodial or janitorial experience preferred but not required.
- Physical Requirements – Ability to lift 25–50 lbs, stand for long periods, and perform repetitive tasks.
- Skills – Attention to detail, reliability, time management, and ability to work independently.
Regularly required to use hand to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear. Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, taste, and smell. Occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

The noise level is usually moderate. Occasionally required to perform job responsibilities outdoors and off site.
