The Grounds Maintenance position provides landscaping of exterior areas of campus to ensure a clean, safe, and professional appearance at all times. The grounds maintenance person reports to the Assistant Superintendent of Support Services, Building and Grounds.
Responsibilities- Work under direction of immediate supervisor and perform all duties as assigned.
- Accountable for all tools, equipment and supplies issued.
- Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs.
- Perform all duties observing safety procedures and utilizing proper equipment (safety glasses, gloves, tags, etc.)
- Responsible for the appearance and cleanliness of campus landscaping.
- Assist with the movement of equipment and furniture as well as set up and tear down for campus functions.
- Responsible for adhering to established procedures.
- Remove debris and other items from flower beds and exterior areas of campus.
- Work with other personnel as assigned.
- Work on weekends, holidays, evening/night and all other hours as required.
- Mow all areas of campus, trim bushes, trim trees, etc., as needed.
- Ensure all safety procedures are followed while using commercial mowers, weed eaters, and landscaping equipment.
- Adhere to all college policies and procedures.
Mandatory Qualifications
- High School Diploma or High School Equivalency.
- Valid Driver’s License and must remain in good standing while employed.
- Landscaping/exterior yard work experience.
- Ability to communicate effectively with college personnel and students.
Desirable Qualifications
- Experience using commercial mowers.
- Experience in a professional/education work setting.
