Facilities Maintenance Technician (Part Time) 20 Hours A Week

The Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for the general maintenance, repair, safety, and upkeep of Youth Homes' therapeutic group homes, offices, and other organizational properties. The position provides preventive and routine maintenance to ensure facilities are safe, functional, well-maintained, and in compliance with applicable organizational, licensing, and safety requirements. The position is also responsible for grounds maintenance, snow removal, basic vehicle and equipment maintenance, and coordination with outside contractors and service providers.

Education, Skills and Licensing Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • A valid Montana Driver's License and insurable on the Youth Homes auto insurance
  • Two years relevant experience in facilities and building maintenance, property management or related field preferred.
  • Experience maintaining multiple residential or commercial properties preferred.
  • Knowledge of general building maintenance and repair.
  • Working knowledge of basic carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to identify facility and safety concerns and determine appropriate corrective action.
  • Ability to troubleshoot maintenance problems and perform a variety of general repairs.
  • Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, lawn equipment, snow removal equipment, and other maintenance equipment.
  • Ability to prioritize maintenance requests based on safety, urgency, and operational needs.
  • Ability to determine when repairs require a licensed or specialized contractor.
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with program staff, supervisors, youth, contractors, and vendors.
  • Ability to maintain accurate maintenance and inspection records.
  • Ability to work effectively in residential environments serving children and adolescents.
  • Ability to respond appropriately to urgent maintenance situations.
  • Ability to use safety ladders and work at reasonable heights.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs as needed.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to safely operate maintenance tools and equipment.
