The Des Peres Lodge is currently accepting applications for a full-time Building Custodian.

SUMMARY

Responsible for the cleaning and general maintenance of City buildings. Performs manual work of routine difficulty. Work includes daily cleaning, minor building repair, performing preventive maintenance and completion of facility set‑ups. Work involves moderate physical exertion, frequent lifting and moving of heavy equipment, as well as record keeping. Work includes non‑routine and weekend hours. Responsible for opening and/or closing the center, depending on work shift.

Schedule varies based on operational needs and may include a mix of daytime, evening, and late‑night hours. Occasional shifts may extend past midnight.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Building Cleaning and Maintenance
    :
    Responsible for all cleaning tasks for The Lodge and other city facilities, as assigned. Performs routine cleaning, sanitizing, disinfecting, recycling, stocking, painting and waxing.
  • Facility and Equipment
    :
    Operation of heavy to light equipment and tools including air compressors, generators, pumps, man‑lifts, floor buffers, high‑pressure steam cleaners and hand tools. Sets up and takes down equipment for recreation programs, private parties, special events and meetings. Responsible for cleaning supplies and equipment used to clean facility. Includes maintenance and inventory.
  • Preventive Maintenance and Safety
    :
    Responsible for maintaining a safe and clean environment for participants. Responsible for inspecting building for safety hazards and correcting and/or notifying supervisor if needed. Removes snow and litter from center entrance, front steps and sidewalks. Informs supervisor of all information regarding the physical facilities. The individual in this role is expected to contribute to the team's efforts by completing other related tasks as needed.
Education and Experience Required

Education: HS or GED

Experience: 1 year of previous relevant work experience is required.
