Location: Vernon, AL
Reports to: Maintenance Supervisor
Department: Maintenance

The Janitor is responsible for maintaining a clean facility by completing a variety of cleaning tasks. Duties include operating a floor sweeper / scrubber, cleaning surfaces with disinfectant, emptying trash and recycling bins, and ensuring overall sanitation of indoor and outdoor areas.

• Clean interior floors, carpets, rugs, windows, and walls as required.
• Maintain cleanliness of outdoor storage and parking areas.
• Remove debris from sidewalks and aisleways.
• Replace air filters and maintain HVAC systems.
• Operate forklift or other equipment and maintain certification as required.
• Perform preventative maintenance checks on all equipment prior to use.
• Complete maintenance checklists and submit maintenance requests to Maintenance Department when necessary.
• Perform other duties as assigned within scope.

• Education: High School diploma or GED.
• Knowledge: Basic arithmetic, written and verbal communication, ability to read instructions and billing materials; proficiency with PC applications including Outlook and Microsoft Office.
• Mental: Normal attention with periods of high concentration; approximately 50% of time operating machinery.
• Physical: Walking/standing ~70%, lifting up to 40 pounds ~15% of time, overhead work ~10%, stooping, bending, and crouching ~5% of time.
• Manual Dexterity: Use of hands, arms, and feet for repetitive lifting and operation of equipment.
• Audible Demands: Ability to follow verbal instructions and hear for safety purposes.
• Visual: Ability to visually observe essential functions; color and depth perception required.
• Environmental: Exposure to plant environments with dust, fumes, noise, and fluctuating temperatures.
