Maintenance Worker
Building maintenance custodial work includes sweeping, vacuuming, scrubbing, waxing, and polishing floors; cleaning and sanitizing sinks, toilets, fixtures, and a variety of other surfaces; dusting exhibits, furniture, and other surfaces; collecting trash; and moving heavy furniture, supplies, and equipment. Grounds maintenance includes cleaning walkways, trails, bridges, sidewalks, and parking lots (including snow/ice removal). Operation and maintenance of UTV's, lawn-tractor-mounted rotary brooms and blowers;
operation and maintenance of small equipment and hand tools such as blowers, vacuums, sweepers, etc. Assist other maintenance staff with minor carpentry, painting, electrical, and plumbing repairs.
Moderate physical effort is required to move and control equipment by pushing, pulling, bending, stooping. Incumbent occasionally carries, sets up, and works from ladders; frequently lifts and moves objects weighing over 50 pounds. Considerable standing, walking, bending, stretching, and working in awkward positions is required. Work is indoors and outdoors in all types of weather conditions including temperatures up to 100 degrees in summer with periods of high humidity and below freezing in winter.
