Job SummaryUnder the direction of the Chief Engineer I, the Stationary Engineer works with fellow engineers, other trades people, and inmate workers to repair and maintain the refrigeration, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and mechanical/electrical systems throughout Folsom State Prison.
Working ConditionsThe prison is located approximately 30 miles east of downtown Sacramento. Grounds feature landscaping and wildlife. Parking is available.
Responsibilities- Repair and maintain mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and refrigeration systems.
- Collaborate with engineers, trades personnel, and inmate workers to perform maintenance and repair tasks.
- Ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and operational standards.
- Document work performed and report issues to the Chief Engineer I.
- EPA Universal Certificate (must be provided before hire).
- Valid state or federal engineering qualification as relevant to the duties.
- Proficiency in maintenance of HVAC, refrigeration, and mechanical/electrical systems in correctional settings.
- Ability to work in a prison environment and follow security protocols.
- Completion of required background investigation, Live Scan Fingerprinting, TB test, and annual TB testing as per CDCR policy.
- Experience in correctional facility maintenance or similar high‑security environment.
