Senior Maintenance Aide (Seasonal)

Department: Parks & Recreation, San Diego Coast District

Location: San Diego, CA

Salary: $21.38 – $25.74 per hour

Schedule: Monday through Thursday, 6:00 am – 4:30 pm; 189 days per year or 1,500 hours per year

• Perform unskilled manual labor in cleaning and maintaining state property.
• Execute minor vehicle maintenance under the direction of a Heavy Equipment Mechanic (oil, fluid, filter changes, brake repair, wiper replacement, tire and hose replacement, battery and spark plug replacement).
• Operate vehicle lift and other maintenance equipment in the auto shop or in the field.
• Drive trucks, automobiles, gators, and electric carts for vehicle parts procurement and delivery to repair shops or park units.
• Complete monthly time reports, vehicle usage reports, and other required documentation.
• Maintain auto shop cleanliness and hygiene in compliance with County of San Diego Health Department environmental health and safety standards.
• Wear a State Park approved uniform.

• Valid California driver’s license of the appropriate class with a safe driving record.
• Background investigation clearance and Live Scan fingerprinting prior to appointment.
• Current or new to state candidates will receive the minimum salary of the classification.
• Position requires ability to travel to vendors, repair shops, and park units.
• Must be able to lift and move equipment; ability to stand for extended periods and work indoors.

Work is performed in an auto shop with exposure to various solutions and oils. The position involves long periods of standing and primarily indoor duties.
