Sewer Collection Utilities Maintenance
Assist in general performance maintenance of the sewer collection utilities specifically. Other performance maintenance as assigned.
Under the direct supervision of the Wastewater Project Superintendent and general oversight of the Operations Manager.
Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesAttends in-service training sessions or other training sessions deemed appropriate by supervisor or department head.
Maintains a neat and orderly work area.
Minimum QualificationsEducation & Experience:
Must be a High School graduate or equivalent. Must have one year of general labor experience in utility construction and maintenance. Must have a working knowledge of computer software for word processing and spreadsheets, specifically Microsoft programs Word and Excel.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Knowledge of principles, procedures, and equipment involved in the construction, maintenance, or repair of a variety of utility mechanical equipment, structures, grounds, or other related projects preferred;
Must be able to operate equipment such as hand and power tools, and vehicles in a manner consistent with safety principles;
Must be able to memorize and retain technical information;
Must have good cognitive and analytical skills;
Must have good time management skills;
Must be able to handle stressful situations;
Must be able to effectively communicate through written and verbal skills;
Must be able to quickly assess or judge situations and make decisions under pressure in areas of responsibility;
Must be able to perform effectively as a member of a team in carrying out the City's Mission, Vision and Values as well as the Trust Edge Experience©, which further establishes the foundation for our Mission, Vision and Values through the 8-Pillars of trust, which are:

Licensing/Certification Requirements:
Must possess a valid Missouri State Driver's License. Must be at least 18 years of age. Must be able to obtain a Class B Commercial Driver's License with air brakes.
Miscellaneous Requirements:
May be required to work a variety of shifts including nights, weekends, or holidays. Subject to emergency call-in. Must be a dependable person due to the small size of the work force. Will be subject to random substance abuse testing.
Physical Demands:
Performs bending, squatting, crawling, twisting, kneeling, and reaching to ground level and overhead;
Must be able to reach, grip and hold;
Must be able to walk and stand for prolonged periods of time;
Must be able to lift 50 pounds above their head;
Must be able to push, pull and carry 80 pounds.
Work Environment:
Both indoor and outdoor working environments with exposure to dust and pollen, toxic fumes, chemicals or smoke, contagious diseases, electrical and mechanical hazards associated with equipment, extreme noise;
Subject to variety of extreme weather condition;
Susceptible to safety hazards associated with working in and around high traffic volume;
Works in confined places and awkward positions.
