JOB TITLE: Custodian

DEPARTMENT: Custodial

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt

Salary:$16.32 per hour non-negotiable

SUMMARY: Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, performs routine custodial duties at assigned Tribal locations, includes maintaining assigned buildings and adjacent ground areas in a clean, orderly, and safe condition.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Including but not limited to the following duties and responsibilities.

• Sweep, scrub, mop, and polish floors; vacuum rugs and carpets in offices, hallways, and other assigned work areas; spot clean and shampoo carpets
• Clean offices, lounges, kitchens, hallways, conference rooms, and other facilities as assigned
• Dust and polishfurnitureand woodwork;empty waste receptacles;spot mopspills;remove debrisas needed
• Cleananddisinfect drinkingfountainsandrestroomfacilitiesincludingsinks, toilet sand urinals.
• Fill dispensers with towels, soap, toilet paperandotheritems;clean mirrors, tile, walls, light fixtures and windows; unclog drainsandtoilets
• Pickup trash andother debrisfromgrounds, walkwaysandareasadjacenttotribalfacilities; sweepconcretesurfacesadjacenttotribal buildings
• Perform a variety of routine general maintenance and repairs to custodial equipment
• Cleanup furniture, equipment and debrisfollowingevents
• Operatecustodialandgrounds maintenanceequipmentsuchasvacuums, mops, small handand power tools, buffer/scrubber machines, and blowers
• Monitorinventorylevelsofcustodialsuppliesasrequired;assist with ordering, receiving and maintaininginventoryofcustodialsuppliesasassigned
• Report safety, sanitaryandfire hazardstoappropriate personnel
• Respondtoemergencycustodial requests as needed
• Maintainroutinerecordsrelatedtoassignedactivities

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required.

• Proper methods, techniques, materials, toolsandequipment usedin modern custodial work
• Modern cleaning methods including basic methodsofcleaningfloors, carpets, furniture, wallsand fixtures

• Appropriate safety precaution sand procedures
• Basic record-keeping techniques
• Properliftingtechniques.
• Correct English usage; grammar, spelling, punctuation, and vocabulary
• Interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy

• Apply cultural sensitivity to Native American programs
• Maintain confidentiality
• Perform routine custodial duties at assigned tribal locations
• Operate and maintain a variety of custodial equipment and tools

• Use basic computer skills

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

A n equivalent combination of education and related work experience may be considered. For a

high school diploma/GED equivalency, a ratio of 1:1 will be used for applicants with less than a high school diploma/GED. This means that one year of paid full-time work experience equals one year of high school education.

• High school diploma or equivalency certificate and sufficient training and/or experience to demonstrate the relevant knowledge, skills and abilities of the job. OR
• An applicant that has completed an 8th grade education will need to have 4 (four) years of full-time work experience to substitute for the required high school diploma/GED and sufficient training and/or experience to demonstrate the relevant knowledge, skills and abilities of the job.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS: To perform and to continue to be qualified for this position, the requirements listed below must be met at a time of hire or may be obtained within a specific amount of time depending on the position requirements. Costs for required certifications, licenses, and registration are to be covered by employee, unless offered by the Tribe.
