SUMMARY

Performs the duties of maintenance technician, in addition to directing and documenting all shift maintenance activities, allocates personnel and materials to optimize machine operational commitment. Assigns and directs 5S, preventive maintenance or other activities as directed by the maintenance supervisor by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Performs the duties of maintenance technician in analyzing malfunctioning machines and systems (electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, paint mixing, etc.).

Recommends and takes corrective action based on past practices, repairs history, trouble shooting guides, technical references and supervisory direction.

Performs and documents predictive and preventive maintenance to injection molding machines, automated and manner, paint booth systems, extruder systems, assembly machines and all associated support equipment.

Conducts and documents water treatment tests, uses precision test equipment, hand tools and handles and stores water treatment chemicals and industrial lubricants.

Should be able to reference engineering drawings, technical manuals, and machine work history to aid in trouble shooting and repair activities.

Additional responsibilities may include countermeasure activities requiring planning, fabrication, working aloft, working in confined spaces, lifting heavy objects and assembly of machines or machine components upon request.

Directs and documents all maintenance activities by use of maintenance shift log and applicable work instructions for the assigned shift.

Directs activities and allocates materials and personnel to minimize downtime in all buildings and insure proper 5S of machine shop and repair areas.

Directs any maintenance evolution exceeding one hour of down time by following the long term stoppage work instructions.

Assists the maintenance supervisor in documentation and scheduling of machine, process and utilities discrepancies.

Procures data and, if required, complies reports as directed.

Distributes shift personnel in a manner that maximizes cross training with minimal impact on machine down time.

Periodically spot checks preventive maintenance task for completion.

Assists the maintenance supervisor in the generation and upkeep of spare parts lists, preventive maintenance for new machinery, establishing asset numbers for spare or repair part ordering, prices and availability and personnel evacuation.

Contacts building maintenance to relay equipment or building discrepancies.

Utilizes building maintenance personnel for repair or countermeasure activity.

Knowledge of the fire alarm system and emergency response procedures.

Insures work is completed in a timely manner.

Identifies problems and implements improvements when quality and machine problems are found.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Directly supervises up to three employees in the Machine Maintenance Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include assisting with interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; assisting with appraising performance; assisting with rewarding and disciplining employees; assisting with addressing complaints and resolving problems.
