Role Description

The Director of Maintenance is a full-time, on-site role located at Twin Oaks Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center in Mobile, AL. This role oversees the planning, coordination, and execution of all maintenance and repair activities across the facility, ensuring systems, equipment, and grounds are safe, functional, and compliant with regulatory standards. Day-to-day responsibilities include supervising maintenance staff, prioritizing and assigning work orders, performing routine inspections, and coordinating preventive maintenance for building systems such as HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and life safety equipment.

The Director of Maintenance also manages vendor relationships, monitors maintenance budgets, maintains accurate documentation and records, and supports facility leadership in planning facility improvements. Collaboration with clinical and administrative teams is essential to minimize disruptions and maintain a safe environment for residents, visitors, and staff.

Qualifications
  • Strong supervisory skills with experience leading maintenance teams and coordinating daily workload.
  • Proficiency in maintenance and repair tasks, including basic carpentry and general building upkeep.
  • Experience in facility management (FM), facility operations, and maintenance management in a healthcare or similar environment.
  • Knowledge of safety codes, regulatory requirements, and best practices for maintaining healthcare facilities.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and maintenance documentation.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
  • Solid organizational and time-management abilities, including prioritization and problem-solving skills.
  • Basic computer skills for work order systems, recordkeeping, and email communication.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certification in maintenance, facilities, or a related trade is preferred.
  • Previous experience in a long-term care, hospital, or healthcare facility environment is beneficial.
