General Labor, Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
Overview
The Maintenance / Property Worker will maintain cleanliness, safety, and mechanical operations of Salvation Army buildings in Modesto and TSA vehicles in various facilities including food warehouse, shelter building, administration building and City Coordinator's Quarters.
Duties & Responsibilities- Attend scheduled staff meetings.
- Maintain all equipment in working order and report problems to the Business Administrator or City Coordinators.
- Execute minor repairs as directed, advise of serious issues.
- Operate forklift, electric pallet jack, and other equipment for loading/unloading pallets and heavy items.
- Ensure all Corps vehicles are in good working order and report repairs.
- Maintain kitchen inspection, inspect refrigerators for cleanliness.
- Update and maintain inspection manuals for A/C units, fire extinguishers, fire control systems, emergency lighting.
- Perform regular maintenance on mechanical and electrical equipment; consult supervisor before major work.
- Maintain storage closets, containers orderly, safely.
- Move, repair, modify, and dispose of equipment and supplies per supervisor direction.
- Assist in establishing scheduled maintenance programs; no major work without approval.
- Report safety and security deficiencies.
- Coordinate cleaning needs with the cleaning service provider and trash removal service.
- Be prepared to work overtime, or early as needed.
- Follow up and complete work/repair orders.
- Perform other related duties as required.
- California Driver's License (Required) with a clean driving record.
- Age 21 years or older.
- Experience repairing and servicing buildings and equipment.
- Organized and efficient.
- Works well with supervisors, staff, and other people.
- Performs duties accurately, efficiently, and timely.
- Ability to pass an in-house driver education course.
- Self‑motivated, takes initiative, encourages others.
- Team‑orientated yet capable of independent work.
- Supportive of The Salvation Army's mission.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Basic tools used in building maintenance: ladders, forklift, scissor lift, pallet jacks.
