Under the supervision of the Shelter Operations Manager, the Shelter Shift Leader will assure that the day to day functions of the shelters are met and maintain cleanliness and order of Shelter building and grounds during the shift.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESClient Services
- Supervise shelter monitors and ensure adequate intakes/screenings.
- Onboard guests properly and ensure laundry/shower availability.
- Coordinate outside service provider meetings with guests.
- Maintain shift documentation: population statistics, incident reports, staff log.
- Orchestrate monitor coordination and orient new monitors on shift.
- Clean and sanitize all dorms, bathrooms, kitchens, and sleeping areas.
- Assist with driving to shelter assignments.
Janitorial Duties
- Supervise or participate in cleaning and sanitation of office, bathrooms, kitchen, and sleeping areas.
- Maintain general maintenance of day room, laundry room, storage room, bathrooms, office spaces, classrooms, utility storage, and mop room.
- Assist Kitchen or Property Supervisor as needed.
- Other related duties as required.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent (required).
- CA driver’s license (preferred).
- Education and/or experience in social services/substance abuse (preferred).
- Experience in informal mental health/substance abuse evaluation.
- Experience with disadvantaged populations (preferred).
- Experience in leading a team (preferred).
Skills and Abilities
- Lead a team.

- Communicate effectively and accurately.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Equipment Used
- Modern office equipment and relevant software.
- Relevant janitorial and maintenance equipment.
