Maintenance Technician / Mechanic, Building Maintenance, Facility Maintenance
The Two Rivers YMCA is currently looking for an experienced full-time Maintenance Worker for day shift at 35-40 hours a week. Pay starts at $16.00 an hour, but depending on experience it could be more.
The candidate must know how to use hand tools, power tools, various types of mowers, snow blowers and other equipment. Knowledge of swimming pools, boilers, pumps and motors is a plus but not required. Using the work order system, the candidate must be mechanically inclined to trouble shoot problems and come up with a solution for fixing any issues that arise at the Two Rivers Y, Rock Island Y, Bass Street Y, Kewanee Y, Golf Center and Spirit Mind and Body Center.
Candidate will be traveling to various facilities on occasion so having reliable transportation is a must.
- Assist with maintaining the Buildings & Grounds, including the Main YMCA facility, Rock Island Y, Bass Street Y, Kewanee Y, Golf Center and Spirit Mind and Body Center branches.
- Mowing, weed eating, snow removal, salting, repairs to building and equipment and painting. Also, monitoring and assisting in maintaining water quality of the aquatic fixtures. Overall, maintaining a high quality of repair and appearance of the entire Grounds.
- Monitoring the energy management program as directed.
- Maintaining the comprehensive maintenance schedule as directed.
- Maintain accurate records.
- Attend all staff meetings and training events as directed.
- Maintain a professional image of the YMCA in the community.
- Relate to contractors providing services at the YMCA.
- When directed by supervisor, make needed purchases and order supplies.
- Communicate effectively with staff and members.
- Set up and take down rooms for activities as directed.
- High School diploma or general education degree (GED); and five years maintenance experience.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, policy/procedure manuals, and operating and maintenance instructions; ability to write routine reports and correspondence; ability to communicate effectively with member/non-members, employees, vendors and contractors.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, and percentages. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in abstract and standardized situations.
- CPR/AED for infant, child and adult;
Bloodborne Pathogens, Hazard Communication; and if driving for the YMCA a valid Driver’s License and valid Car Insurance. - Must have competence on a computer. Required training in basic electrical, plumbing, HVAC and pool chemistry. Experience with pool filter equipment and various tools.
