Description
The Two Rivers YMCA is currently looking for an EXPERIENCED full‑time Maintenance Worker for day shift, 35–40 hours a week. Pay starts at $16.00 an hour and may increase with experience. The candidate must know how to use hand tools, power tools, various types of mowers, snow blowers, and other equipment. Knowledge of swimming pools, boilers, pumps and motors is a plus but not required.
Using the work order system, the candidate must be mechanically inclined to troubleshoot problems and develop solutions for fixing any issues that arise at the Two Rivers Y, Rock Island Y, Bass Street Y, Kewanee Y, Golf Center and Spirit Mind and Body Center. The candidate will travel to various facilities on occasion, so reliable transportation is a must.
- Assist with maintaining Buildings & Grounds at Main YMCA facility, Rock Island Y, Bass Street Y, Kewanee Y, Golf Center and Spirit Mind and Body Center branches.
- Mowing, weed eating, snow removal, salting, repairs to buildings and equipment, and painting.
- Monitor and assist in maintaining the water quality of aquatic fixtures.
- Overall maintain high quality repair and appearance of the entire Grounds.
- Monitor the energy management program as directed.
- Maintain the comprehensive maintenance schedule as directed.
- Maintain accurate records.
- Attend all staff meetings and training events as directed.
- Maintain a professional image of the YMCA internally and in the community.
- Relate to contractors providing services at the YMCA.
- Make needed purchases and order supplies when directed by the supervisor.
- Communicate effectively with staff and members.
- Set up and take down rooms for activities as directed.
- High School diploma or GED and five years of maintenance experience.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, policy/procedure manuals, operating and maintenance instructions; write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to calculate figures such as discounts, interest, proportions, percentages; apply probability and statistics, fractions, ratios, and percentages.
- Apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in abstract and standardized situations.
- CPR/AED for infant, child and adult;
Bloodborne Pathogens, Hazard Communication; a valid driver’s license and car insurance if required to drive for the YMCA. - Computer competence; required training in basic electrical, plumbing, HVAC and pool chemistry; experience with pool filter equipment and various tools.
- Physical demands: regularly stand, walk, use hands to handle, reach; lift 25 lbs regularly, 50 lbs frequently, and 100 lbs occasionally.
- Vision requirements: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Work environment: moderate to loud noise; occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, high or precarious places, outside weather, explosions, wet/humid conditions, fumes, toxic chemicals, extreme temperatures, electrical shock and vibration.
