Kitchen Exhaust Hood Cleaning Technician – Full Time (Manufacturing).

Non-Exempt / Hourly.
Pay Type:
Hourly - Full Time. ACA Profile - 32+. Department: FFO (Food Facility Services) / Field Operations.
The Kitchen Exhaust Hood Cleaning Technician is responsible for cleaning and maintaining commercial kitchen exhaust systems to ensure fire safety compliance, proper ventilation, and customer satisfaction. This role involves performing detailed cleaning of exhaust hoods, ductwork, fans, and related components in restaurants, cafeterias, and other food service facilities. Technicians must work safely, follow company procedures, and maintain high-quality workmanship.
Responsibilities- Perform cleaning of commercial kitchen exhaust systems, including: exhaust hoods, ductwork, exhaust fans, filters and grease containment systems.
- Set up job sites safely (floor protection, ladder safety, signage, equipment staging).
- Use appropriate tools and chemicals to remove grease buildup effectively.
- Protect customer property and maintain cleanliness of surrounding work areas.
- Inspect exhaust systems for damage, missing components, and safety concerns; report findings to supervisor/management.
- Complete required job documentation including: service reports, before/after photos, compliance stickers or certificates (as applicable).
- Follow all company safety policies and OSHA guidelines.
- Maintain equipment, tools, and company vehicles in clean working order.
- Communicate professionally with customers and team members.
- Participate in after-hours and overnight work as needed (most hood cleaning occurs outside normal business hours).
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
- Ability to work nights, weekends, and flexible schedules.
- Ability to work in hot, confined, and elevated environments (ductwork access, ladders, rooftops).
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and perform physical labor for extended periods.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

Certification& Training
Must have the capability and willingness to attend, participate in, and successfully pass basic certification courses and safety training required for the position. Must be able to maintain required certifications and complete periodic refresher training as directed by the company.
(Examples of certifications may include internal safety training, ladder safety, confined space awareness, equipment operation training, or industry-specific hood cleaning certifications.)
Preferred Qualifications- Prior experience in kitchen exhaust hood cleaning, pressure washing, or commercial cleaning.
- Familiarity with NFPA 96 standards (preferred but not required).
- Mechanical aptitude and comfort using power tools.
- Experience working on rooftops and using fall protection.
Physical Requirements
- Frequent standing, bending, kneeling, climbing ladders, and working overhead.
- Exposure to grease, cleaning chemicals, and varying temperatures.
- Work performed indoors and outdoors, including rooftops and tight duct access areas.
- Use of required PPE such as gloves, eye protection, respirators, and non-slip footwear.
