Program OverviewThe program teaches diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing Caterpillar equipment using advanced technology, diagnostics, and high‑tech tools. Coursework is classroom‑based; hands‑on learning occurs on actual machines.
Qualifications- Strong desire to become a Caterpillar Technician
- Basic mechanical aptitude
- High school diploma or equivalent (or plan to earn)
- 18 years of age or older by first internship
- Meet FDTC admission requirements (placement testing, application, interview)
- Pass background check
- Pass drug screening
- Accepted by both dealer and college
This position does not involve supervisory duties.
Workplace RequirementsThe role requires standing, walking, using hands, reaching, speaking, hearing, and lifting up to 25 pounds; operating equipment safely. Exposure to moving parts, mechanical equipment, fumes, extreme temperatures, chemicals, noise, and hazardous conditions may occur.
