4 hours per day (starting at or after 3:30pm, occasional day shifts to cover)
Work Year: 180 school days plus 5 days immediately preceding the school year.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Facilities Floater Custodian provides custodial support throughout the Monson Public Schools. Assigned daily by the Head of Maintenance, this position assists with routine cleaning, coverage during employee absences, and other custodial needs at Granite Valley School, Monson High School, and Quarry Hill Community School.
The Facilities Floater Custodian helps ensure all district buildings remain clean, safe, and ready for students, staff, and community use.

- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous custodial experience preferred.
- Knowledge of proper cleaning methods, materials, equipment, and safety procedures.
- Ability to safely operate custodial equipment including vacuums, floor scrubbers, and other cleaning equipment.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with staff and the public.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and move custodial equipment and supplies.
- Valid Massachusetts driver's license preferred.
- High School/Trade School degree preferred.
- Citizenship, residency or work visa required.
- Empty trash and recycling receptacles throughout the building and replace liners as needed.
- Vacuum carpets in classrooms, offices, and common areas.
- Sweep and clean all hard surface floors.
- Clean and disinfect student and staff restrooms.
- Clean and sanitize sinks, toilets, urinals, mirrors, partitions, and other restroom fixtures.
- Dust windowsills, ledges, and other surfaces.
- Clean classrooms, offices, cafeterias, hallways, stairwells, entrances, and other assigned areas.
- Spot clean walls, doors, windows, lockers, and other surfaces as needed.
- Refill soap dispensers, paper towel dispensers, and toilet tissue dispensers.
- Secure assigned areas by locking doors and reporting any security concerns at the end of each shift.
- Report maintenance issues, safety hazards, vandalism, or damaged equipment to the Head of Maintenance.
- Follow all district safety procedures, OSHA regulations, and proper handling of cleaning chemicals.
- Maintain custodial equipment and cleaning supplies in a clean, safe, and organized manner.
- Respond to emergency cleaning situations, including spills and other custodial needs.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

This position requires constant moderate physical effort, with occasional strenuous effort demanded. Requires extensive walking, reaching, standing, stooping and climbing when performing various job-related functions. Occasionally required to lift, move equipment which may weigh up to 100 pounds. Physical agility is required to access all areas. May spend entire shift engaged in physical activity. Vision and hearing correctable to normal ranges.
