Job Title: Student Custodian Summer Temp

Reports To: Custodial Supervisor

FLSA Status: Non Exempt – Temporary position

Salary Grade: 3B ($12.00-$13.81-$15.61)/hr.

Approved Date: 07/01/2025

SUMMARY

Keeps schools, gyms, offices, and work areas in clean, safe, and orderly condition by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Other duties may be assigned.

  • Sweeps, mops, scrubs, waxes, and vacuums hallways, stairs and office space.
  • Empties trash and garbage containers.
  • Dusts, washes, and sanitizes cabinets, desks, etc.; dusts all shelves.
  • Fills paper towel and toilet paper dispensers.
  • Keeps all walls clean including bathroom stalls and mirrors; washes all doors, both inside and outside and keeps inside entrance ways clean.
  • Washes and disinfects all toilet bowls, sinks, and water fountains.
  • Keeps all areas around light fixtures clean.
  • Keeps all custodial rooms neat and clean.
  • Keeps paper supplies, garbage supplies, and cleaning solutions locked at all times.
  • Notifies supervisor concerning need for repairs or problems.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred; and one to six months related experience and/or training preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence; ability to effectively present information in one‑on‑one situations and with other employees.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Required to wear or carry a 10.5 pound backpack vacuum cleaner with attachments to perform floor duties.

This position has no special vision requirements other than normal corrected vision.
