Summary

Do you have a passion for the outdoors and are seeking a winter position that allows you to work outside and meet people from all over the world? Join a hard‑working team to remove snow from areas including but not limited to entryways, walkways, roots, patios, and general access points to ensure a safer and more comfortable experience for our guests.

Must be at least 18 years of age. Sierra-at‑Tahoe is an at‑will employer. This position requires a post‑offer background check.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
  • Operate various snow removal equipment—including snow blowers, snow shovels, and snowplows—in a safe and responsible manner in all types of weather and guest traffic conditions.
  • Remove snow and ice from designated areas in a safe and efficient manner, preventing hazardous conditions by dispersing gravel, salt, and/or other products to prevent slips or falls.
  • Assist with repair and maintenance of snow removal equipment.
  • Assist with repair of potholes appearing in lots, roadways, and access points.
  • Assist guests with answering questions and responding to their requests in a timely manner.
  • Contribute to team effort by participating in job sharing, maintaining resort cleanliness, and ensuring safety of guests and employees; participate in safety meetings; accept diverse assignments; maintain a positive and friendly attitude and demeanor in all internal and external interactions.
  • Meet service level objectives and department goals as set forth by the immediate supervisor.

Safety Responsibilities
  • Protect the safety of self, co‑workers, and Sierra‑at‑Tahoe Resort guests at all times.
  • Report any potentially harmful equipment or situations to the immediate supervisor without delay.
  • Report safety‑related accidents and incidents at once to the immediate supervisor.
  • Follow all company and department safety policies and procedures.
  • Operate equipment in a safe manner that will not lead to injury of yourself or others.

    Education and Experience

    High school diploma or general education degree (G.E.D.); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Language Skills

    Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.

    Mathematical Skills

    Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret graphs.

    Reasoning Ability

    Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

    Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

    Must possess a valid State Driver’s License. Resort certification on any necessary equipment.

    Physical Demands

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, talk, and hear. The employee frequently uses hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reaches with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 15 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.

    Environment

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to guest/employee interaction, moving mechanical parts, and outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places. The noise level in the workplace is usually moderate to loud depending on types of operating machinery.
