Position Overview
Temporary custodial staff needed for substitute assignments on the community college campus.
Responsibilities- Perform cleaning and maintenance of buildings and facilities using current efficient methods, materials, tools, and equipment.
- Operate cleaning equipment and utilize new technologies and products as directed.
- Follow written and oral instructions and maintain safe work practices, including safe use of chemicals.
- Maintain cleanliness and safety in indoor/outdoor environments, including work from an 8-foot ladder and exposure to weather extremes.
- Manage physical tasks such as lifting or moving heavy parcels, machines, or equipment up to 50 pounds, frequent standing, and walking.
- Establish and maintain effective work relationships with students, staff, and other stakeholders.
- High school diploma or equivalent, or equivalent training and experience indicating possession of the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Knowledge of safe handling and operation of cleaning equipment and chemicals used in janitorial work.
- Ability to read and write at a level sufficient to perform required duties.
- Ability to quickly learn and successfully use new technologies and products as directed.
- Physical ability to meet requirements such as lifting up to 50 pounds, using an 8-foot ladder, and engaging in full-body exertion.
Moderate physical effort: frequent standing, walking, lifting or moving heavy items up to 50 pounds, working from an 8-foot ladder, and exposure to outdoor weather extremes.
Salary$19.35 per hour
Conditions of EmploymentOffers of employment are contingent upon Board approval. All new employees must submit proof of freedom from tuberculosis and eligibility to work in the United States. Employees must sign the Oath of Allegiance, submit fingerprints for California Department of Justice clearance, and join the California School Employees Association or an approved alternative.
