Fleet Maintenance Manager

Under the direction of the Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Shop Supervisor supports and oversees the daily operations of the shop floor and service lane. They supervise repairs on vehicles and equipment, manage employees engaged in maintenance tasks, schedule staff, and provide coaching, guidance, and disciplinary action as necessary. The role also includes managing work orders, controlling workflow for scheduled and non‑scheduled repairs, confirming parts usage, and ensuring that DASH maintains the highest quality of repair work and vehicle maintenance for the ATC fleet.
Employees must work safely, accurately, and efficiently while fostering a positive and inclusive work environment.
Salary
: $100,000 - $110,000 annually.
- Support and manage day‑to‑day operations of the maintenance shop and service lane, ensuring work orders, repairs, vehicle fueling, and cleaning are performed safely and efficiently.
- Supervise mechanics, service workers, and cleaners to ensure vehicle availability and proper completion of work orders and documentation.
- Lead the operational response for major service disruptions and events, including vehicle breakdowns, accidents, and incidents.
- Oversee vehicle repairs: diagnose problems, assign work orders to mechanics, and ensure progress and timely completion.
- Coordinate with vendors for work performed on‑ and off‑site, ensuring vendor work is completed within time constraints and properly documented.
- Address employee issues, including policy violations, and document incidents, escalating complex issues and disciplining in consultation with Human Resources.
- Maintain supporting documentation and provide constructive feedback to the Maintenance Manager for personnel evaluations and annual reviews.
- Ensure shop floor, maintenance bays, garage, service lane, and all storage areas are clean, organized, compliant with OSHA regulations and company standards.
- Utilize software, technology, schematics, repair manuals, hand tools, pneumatic tools, hydraulic tools, and ancillary shop equipment for work orders, inspections, and preventive maintenance following established OEM procedures.
- Assist technicians with vehicle test drives for verification of successful completion of maintenance.
- Work with the Parts Department on requests for required parts.
- Monitor and support mechanics, service workers, and cleaners with work orders, inspections, preventive maintenance and service lane functions.
- Maintain proper licensing, certifications, and related requirements for operation of all types of DASH vehicles.
- Knowledgeable in fixed transit vehicle operations, services, and technology.
- Strong understanding of diesel and gasoline equipment repair procedures.
- Familiar with general transit industry best practices and trends.
- Proficient in fleet maintenance and service tracking software (Fleetio, Track It, etc.).
- Comfortable with troubleshooting software related to fleet maintenance.
- Proficient with computers, hardware, and Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams).
- Knowledge and understanding of payroll, time‑keeping systems, and employment regulations.
- Proficient with general office equipment (printers, copiers, phones).
- Ability to interpret and enforce company policies, procedures, and CBA.
- Ability to analyze data and strong communication skills.
- Ability to demonstrate and distribute training materials.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, make independent decisions, and manage deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including providing guidance and instruction.
