Maintenance Service Technician II

SummaryHitachi Particle Engineering and Services, Inc. is looking for an experienced Maintenance Service Technician II to provide service and maintenance for the Proton Beam Therapy (PBT) System used to treat cancer at The University of Wisconsin Hospitals and Clinics, Madison, and associated support systems.
Responsibilities- Monitor and provide support to positively affect operational performance and patient experience.
- Respond to service support calls within a timely manner during working hours.
- Interface with customers to ensure maximum customer satisfaction.
- Work in compliance with all regulatory standards including HIPPA, EH&S, FDA, OSHA, Radiation Safety, and Hitachi internal policies.
- Work with team members to schedule preventive maintenance to minimize part costs and maximize efficiency.
- Maintain an understanding of PBT system specific vocabulary and awareness for effective communication and problem resolution.
- Perform all PBT system preventive maintenances (Daily, weekly, monthly, semi-annual, annual) and corresponding documents (PM, CM, work orders, IAF).
- Utilize Laser Tracker for data acquisition.
- Schedule and replace vacuum components and ensure proper vacuum levels.
- Perform X‑ray tube replacement, alignment of 2mm sphere to isocenter, tube/FPD calibration, crosshair alignment confirmation and radiation isocenter measurement.
- Guide and mentor maintenance technician I personnel.
- Inspect and test incoming/outgoing materials and participate in shipment preparations.
- Create and incorporate newly written procedures under guidance.
- Troubleshoot and solve complex PBT system issues to support system uptime.
- Create and maintain 6S practices under management direction.
- Maintain inventory control of all necessary supplies and chemicals with adherence to safety regulations.
- Safely work in high voltage areas and utilize proper LOTO safety practices.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering documents (schematics, wiring diagrams, etc.).
- Ability to use measurement instruments (oscilloscopes, multi‑meters, leak detectors, etc.).
- Safely lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly and work in elevated areas with safety harness.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience working in mechanical, electrical, high voltage, and radiation environments.
- Flexible to cover rotating shifts and work overtime as needed.
- High School Graduate or GED (Required).
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Robotics, Electrical, Electronic, Biomedical Engineering, Medical Physics/Accelerator, Nuclear or Radiation Physics (preferred).
- Graduate of Trade School or 3 years experience in Electrical/Robotic/Mechanical/Electronic (preferred).
