Salary Information
Compensation plans are based on a multi-step progression system. The pay range reflects the entry level and maximum salary potential in the assigned pay grade. A starting salary may be negotiated and will be commensurate with education, training and experience in alignment with pay administration policies and Montgomery Personnel Board Rules & Regulations.
Nature of WorkThis is skilled mechanical work in the maintenance and repair of motorcycles, tractors, post-hole diggers, air compressors, weed eaters, electrical generators and other small gas engines. Employee works under general direction and supervision and is expected to exercise independent judgment as to the method of repair after receiving written or oral instructions concerning the operating conditions of a piece of equipment.
Reports directly to the Master Mechanic, Property Maintenance Supervisor, District Park Maintenance Superintendent or Production Controller.
Must have at least two (2) years’ experience repairing small gas engines such as Briggs and Stratton, Kohler, and Tecumseh. Qualifying education, training and experience that provide the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job will be considered.
Special RequirementsEmployment is conditioned upon applicants acquiring and maintaining an Alabama Driver’s license and providing a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) from the Department of Public Safety as proof of an insurable driving record.
Physical RequirementsMust have the ability to perform heavy lifting of objects 60 - 100 lbs and perform strenuous physical tasks over extended periods of time. Must have the ability to work in inclement weather.
