Overview

Buildings and General Services at the State of Vermont has an exciting opportunity with room for growth as a Custodian II, with Operations and Maintenance.

As part of the Operations and Maintenance (O&M) team you will work as part of a group and independently. This position serves the Capital District in Montpelier, which includes the state house and many historic buildings. Custodian II is tasked with general cleaning duties such as, vacuuming, mopping, trash and recycling collection of offices and restrooms. This position will also be asked to assist with other duties as assigned.

This is a full-time position, and the hours are 12pm - 8:30pm. Position requires successful completion of background check.

Duties are performed during an assigned shift at one or more state owned or leased buildings. Cleaning work often involves addressing blood borne pathogens and other potentially infections material. Incumbents must be able to work outdoors in all types of weather. Good physical condition and ability to climb ladders and lift weights of up to 50-lbs. is necessary. Overtime and evening work may be required.

Minimum Qualifications

One (1) year or more of building custodial work that includes floor maintenance tasks such as stripping and waxing floors and carpet extraction.

OR

One (1) year as a BGS Custodian I.

Special Requirements

Some positions in this class require a valid driver’s license and own transportation for travel between work locations.

Candidates must pass any level of background investigation applicable to the position.
