Custodian I - FT

Position within the Physical Plant, under the direction of the Superintendent of Physical Plant, responsible for ensuring facility cleanliness and sanitation at the Lincoln campus.

• Clean Designated Restrooms daily: clean and sanitize sinks, urinals, toilets, showers, wastebaskets, partitions, walls, mirrors, dispensers, floors; replace toilet paper and towels; remove garbage and trash.
• Clean Classrooms, Laboratories and Offices daily: sweep and mop floors, wash windows, clean walls, dust furniture and fixtures, vacuum carpet, strip walls, scrub floors, wax.
• Move Office Equipment and Supervise: assist in moving tables, chairs, desks, etc.; make minor repairs on furniture and facilities; supervise student workers; drive light trucks and automobiles as directed.
• Promote a Culture of Belonging: support and promote an environment where all students, faculty, and employees feel welcomed, valued, and empowered.

• Work and move while standing or slightly stooped for about 90-95% of the time.
• Work and walk on hard concrete surfaces.
• Operate power cleaning equipment such as scrubbers, buffers, carpet cleaners, vacuum cleaners.
• Wear safety glasses when required.
• Work in restroom areas with gases or fumes from cleaning chemicals.
• Lift 50 pounds, carry 20 pounds, slide objects weighing 60 pounds regularly.
• Climb ladders and/or scaffolding.
• Operate hydraulic lift up to 24 feet high.

• Read, understand, and follow directions related to hazardous materials.
• Communicate orally and in writing with supervisors, campus staff, and student workers.
• Use safe lifting and moving techniques.
• Use power cleaning equipment safely.
• Drive automobiles and light trucks.
• Use basic computer skills.
• Work with cleaning chemicals.
• Explain and demonstrate ability to perform essential functions.

• High School graduate or GED.
• One year of successful experience in the custodial area.
• Valid driver’s license and eligibility for auto insurance.

• Janitorial, custodial, or building maintenance experience.

$15.32 per hour.

Eligible employees receive SCC Ben Dollars. Full‑time status with an FTE of 0.75 or greater qualifies. Employees elect a health insurance option; unused SCC Ben Dollars are paid in cash at $0.93 per $1.00 benefit dollar. All amounts are subject to withholding for income and employment taxes.
