The Janitor is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and orderliness in assigned areas, ensuring a safe and sanitary environment for associates, contractors, visitors, and other third parties onsite. The employee will ensure cleanliness, safety, and operational efficiency in industrial facilities by performing comprehensive cleaning, waste management, and equipment maintenance tasks.
ScopeThis position is responsible for:
- Overall facility cleanliness includes bathrooms, offices, breakrooms, building and grounds.
- Perform general facility sanitization:
Sweeping, mopping, dusting, and scrubbing floors, walls, ceilings, and machinery to remove dust, debris, grease, and hazardous materials. - Manage facility waste operations, including proper disposal of general and hazardous waste, recycling, and maintaining waste storage areas in compliance with regulations.
- Maintain clean, safe, and organized waste disposal and compactor areas.
- Perform basic groundskeeping duties, window washing, pressure washing, pavilion cleanliness, trash collection, etc.
- Operate equipment for industrial cleaning such as floor scrubbers, pressure washers, industrial vacuums, and buffers safely and efficiently.
- Ensure exterior areas of the facility are maintained in a clean, safe, and orderly condition.
- Monitoring work areas and equipment for damage or wear, performing minor repairs, and reporting major issues to supervisors.
- Work effectively with the production staff and other team members to ensure operational efficiency and maintain high cleanliness standards.
- Following health, safety, and environmental protocols, including wearing required PPE, handling chemicals safely, ensuring proper container labeling, and adhering to OSHA and NFPA standards.
- Follow all safety policies and procedures while performing assigned duties.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the EHS & Facilities Manager.
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate or bachelor's degree preferred.
- Previous industrial cleaning or housekeeping experience, 1–5 years, preferably in manufacturing, warehouse, or industrial settings.
- Ability to operate powered industrial equipment or obtain certification.
- Familiarity with industrial-grade cleaning chemicals, floor care techniques, and specialized sanitation procedures.
- Ability to work independently and follow direction.
- Understanding of workplace safety standards, proper chemical handling, and emergency procedures.
- Self-motivated with strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot basic issues.
- Ability to work independently or collaboratively to meet daily goals.
- Experience with visual management systems and workplace organization.
- Commitment and familiarity with safety regulations and compliance standards

The employee will be required to stand, walk, bend twist, kneel, crawl for extended periods to maintain operational 6s standards of the facility. - Work Environment
