Job Summary:
The Recess/Lunch Supervisor supervises students during lunch and/or recess time, held outdoors and inside the building. The Supervisor is responsible for the students' safety and assists in resolving conflict among students. Recess/Lunch Supervisors may be assigned to work outdoors for their entire shift and must be able to work outside based on the needs of the building and the guidelines of ISBE's Child Care Weather Watch.
Organizational Relationship:
The Recess/Lunch Supervisor reports directly to the Building Administration.
Qualifications:
- Must be 18 years of age
- High school diploma or equivalent, preferred
- Successful instructional or organized recreational experience with children, preferred
- Ability to understand and carry out oral and written directions
- Ability to visually supervise students, assess situations for safety concerns
- Ability to exercise sound judgment in making decisions regarding safety and welfare of students
Salary and Benefits:
Salary is established by the Board of Education and PSRP agreement. For more information regarding salary and benefits, visit our District Employment page. The Recess/Lunch Supervisor works 3.5 hours per day, generally between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. (specific hours will depend upon building assignment). The work year includes 180 days plus 10 paid holidays for a total of 190 paid days (655 paid hours per year).
The hourly rate of pay for 2026-27 is $20.35.
The Board will pay 100% of the premium cost of Employee only HMO coverage and 90% of Employee only PPO coverage.
The Board will pay 70% of the HMO premium cost for dependent coverage plans (Family, Employee + Spouse, Employee + Children).
The Board will pay 70% of the HMO premium for Employee + Spouse, Employee + Child, or Family coverage. If an employee chooses a PPO plan for any dependent coverage levels, the Board will contribute an amount equal to 70% of the HMO Family premium, and the employee will pay the remaining difference.
