Paraprofessional Position at Golf Middle School

Golf School District 67 is seeking a student-centered, collaborative, and enthusiastic paraprofessional to join our educational team. In this role, you will work under direct supervision to provide vital classroom support, assist in delivering a balanced curriculum, and foster a safe, inclusive environment that helps every child thrive in alignment with our mission: "Learning Today... Primary Responsibilities & Goals

  • Instructional & Curriculum Support:
    Assist the teacher in preparing materials for the daily program (e.g., lesson plans, observations, child assessments, development plans) and organize age-appropriate indoor/outdoor activities to actively engage with children. Help deliver a balanced curriculum covering social/cultural awareness, language/cognitive development, and fine/gross motor activities.
  • Routine & Physical Space Management:
    Assist the teacher with daily routines (such as handwashing, toileting, greeting, and tooth brushing) and eat with the children to encourage appropriate discussion during meal times. Help arrange physical spaces to create engaging learning centers that promote student independence.
  • Student Behavior & Safety:
    Maintain a safe, healthy learning environment by assisting with the care and clean-up of the classroom and equipment. Monitor established behavior plans to ensure student compliance, and manage physical spaces to prevent safety hazards.
  • Collaboration & Communication:
    Provide ongoing feedback to supervisors, teachers, and parents regarding student progress. Partner with the classroom team to help plan activities that maintain strong parental involvement, and participate in home visits or parent/teacher conferences when requested.
  • Compliance & Professional Growth:
    Ensure all individualization and classroom documentation are completed in a timely manner to comply with established guidelines. Attend mandatory meetings and professional development trainings to acquire and convey job-related information, and perform other related duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements & Environment

Physical Demands:
Requires the ability to actively perform work in a classroom and school setting, moving freely throughout the day to support children. Tasks involve frequent standing, walking, sitting, bending, and occasional lifting or carrying of classroom materials.

Environment:
Work is performed in a vibrant school environment with moderate noise levels, minimal temperature variations, and outdoors during assigned playground or active physical sessions.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary Range:
Salary will be established in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement between the Board of Education and the Golf Teachers and Support Staff Union Local 1274. The specific range is determined based on the candidate's education level and years of experience.
