Key Responsibilities
- Assist in implementing site EHS programs and policies in alignment with local, state, federal, and company regulations to ensure compliance and mitigate risks.
- Engage and train employees on safety programs, including Lock-Out/Tagout, Hazard Communication, Confined Space Entry, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), exposure control, and electrical safety.
- Conduct risk assessments, job hazard analysis (JHAs), and ergonomic assessments, driving corrective actions and proposing creative solutions to identified risks.
- Manage and document incident investigations, develop corrective action plans, and ensure follow-up to prevent recurrence.
- Coordinate emergency preparedness activities, maintain related documentation, and lead practice drills to verify readiness.
- Coordinate hazardous waste management processes and act as an on-site resource for chemical spill containment, cleanup, and disposal.
- Conduct environmental audits for air, water, waste, spill prevention control and countermeasures (SPCC), and hazardous materials to maintain regulatory compliance and reduce environmental impact.
- Manage safety-related permits, monitor contractor safety, perform environmental regulatory inspections, and lead waste reduction initiatives.
- Prepare accurate reports and maintain EHS records for regulatory bodies, internal audits, and management.
- Leverage EHS data management systems (e.g., VelocityEHS) to track key metrics, analyze trends, and generate insights that support proactive risk management.
- Compile detailed summaries to support continuous improvement, including risk assessments, audit results, observations, and recommendations.
- Coordinate, develop, and deliver EHS training programs for new and existing employees, using both in-person sessions and computer-based training (CBT).
- Promote EHS culture and employee engagement through activities such as toolbox talks, safety committees, and loss prevention teams.
- Partner with HR to coordinate health programs, including respirator fit testing, hearing conservation, and personal protective equipment (PPE) management.
- Identify and execute EHS process improvements, driving the facility beyond compliance toward sustainable practices.
- Assist operations in reducing waste-to-landfill, water use, and energy consumption, contributing to Xylem’s sustainability goals.

- Working knowledge of federal and other relevant safety and environmental regulations. Familiarity with ISO 14001 and 45001 standards or similar management systems.
- Strong experience in safety management systems, risk assessments, and accident investigation processes.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and EHS management system software.
- Knowledge of Worker's Compensation laws (as applicable) and basic human resources health and safety programs.
- An undergraduate degree in occupational safety, environmental science, public health, or industrial or safety engineering is required. An advanced degree is preferred.
- Minimum of 0 - 3 years of EHS experience.
Professional safety certifications such as OSHA 10-Hour, NEBOSH General, GSP (Graduate Safety Professional), ASP (Associate Safety Professional), or equivalent are desired.
