We are seeking an experienced Coiler/Winder Setup Operator for a direct-hire opportunity with an established manufacturing company. This position is responsible for setting up, operating, adjusting, and troubleshooting coiling and winding equipment used to manufacture precision components. The ideal candidate will have hands‑on experience with machine setup, tooling, wire or strip materials, blueprint interpretation, measuring instruments, and quality inspection. This individual must be able to work independently, maintain close tolerances, identify equipment or product issues, and make the necessary adjustments to keep production running safely and efficiently.

• Set up and operate automatic and semi-automatic coiling and winding machines.
• Review work orders, blueprints, specifications, setup sheets, and production instructions before beginning each job.
• Install and adjust tooling, arbors, mandrels, guides, feed rolls, cutting tools, forming tools, and machine attachments.
• Load wire, strip, or other raw materials into the machine according to job specifications.
• Set machine parameters, including feed rate, tension, speed, pitch, diameter, length, number of coils or turns, and cut-off requirements.
• Produce first‑piece samples and inspect them before beginning the full production run.
• Use calipers, micrometers, gauges, comparators, and other precision measuring instruments to verify dimensions.
• Monitor machine operation and inspect products throughout the production process.
• Make machine and tooling adjustments to maintain dimensional accuracy and product quality.
• Identify and correct issues involving material feed, tension, alignment, tooling, machine settings, or finished‑product dimensions.
• Troubleshoot equipment problems and determine when maintenance assistance is required.
• Perform minor machine repairs, adjustments, cleaning, and routine preventive maintenance.
• Change tooling and materials efficiently to reduce machine downtime between production runs.
• Verify raw‑material type, size, condition, and lot information before beginning production.
• Inspect finished components for defects such as improper dimensions, inconsistent winding, surface damage, deformation, or incorrect cut‑off.
• Separate and document nonconforming products according to quality procedures.
• Complete production records, inspection documents, setup sheets, scrap reports, and material‑usage forms accurately.
• Track completed quantities, rejected parts, downtime, and production progress.
• Meet established quality and productivity expectations without compromising safety.
• Maintain an organized workstation and keep tools, materials, and equipment in their designated locations.
• Follow all company safety requirements and wear the required personal protective equipment.
• Communicate production concerns, equipment problems, and material shortages to the supervisor.
• Assist with training less‑experienced operators on machine operation, setup procedures, inspection methods, and safety practices.
• Perform additional manufacturing duties as assigned.

• Previous experience setting up and operating coiling, winding, spring‑making, or related forming equipment.
• Strong knowledge of machine setup, tooling installation, and equipment adjustments.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, work orders, setup sheets, and manufacturing specifications.
• Experience working with close tolerances and precision components.
• Ability to use calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other inspection equipment.
• Mechanical aptitude and effective troubleshooting skills.
