Equipment Operator

The Village of Morton Grove is seeking a skilled and dependable Equipment Operator to join our Public Works team. This full‑time position involves operating a variety of light and heavy equipment to support the maintenance and improvement of Village infrastructure.

We are looking for someone with hands‑on experience in equipment operation, a strong understanding of safety procedures, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. The ideal candidate will be committed to public service and capable of responding to emergencies when needed.

• Operating equipment such as front‑end loaders, backhoes, vactor sewer trucks, dump trucks (CDL
  
  B), street sweepers, and more.
• Performing manual labor including excavation, grading, and infrastructure repairs.
• Hauling materials and debris, and delivering to designated sites.
• Participating in snow removal and ice control operations.
• Conducting routine maintenance on equipment and reporting unsafe conditions.
• Adhering to all safety and risk management protocols.

• Has at least one year of experience operating automotive and heavy equipment.
• Possesses a valid Class “B” CDL and can respond to emergencies 24/7.
• Demonstrates strong teamwork, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
• Is familiar with public works operations and safety procedures.
• Has working knowledge of Microsoft Office and can read technical manuals and maps.
• Is physically capable of lifting and moving heavy materials and working in varied weather conditions.
