Work Schedule Summary
- During the summer and school year:
Academic Buildings. Swing Shift Day Shift. The work schedule of our temporary positions can sometimes be quite flexible; however, applicants need to be aware that there are no guaranteed hours of work. The expected hours for this position will be Monday-Friday with shifts starting at 4:00am, 6:00am days and 4pm nights. Shifts would end 10am or 12pm for days and 1am for nights.
Position Responsibilities
Position Summary
- Custodians ensure that assigned offices, restrooms, locker rooms, classrooms and conference rooms are clean and orderly. They perform such tasks as sweeping and mopping stairways, entryways and halls; cleaning entryway door windows; completing general office cleaning; operating custodial equipment; completing minor repairs and parts replacement on equipment; climbing ladders and working with cleaning equipment; and conducting security checks of the buildings in which they're working.

- Operating and maintaining scrubbers, shampooers, burnishers and vacuums; removing trash and debris; shampooing carpets and furniture; scrubbing and waxing floors; sweeping, mopping, burnishing and vacuuming floors; dusting and replacing light bulbs; and cleaning walls, cove base, sills, light fixtures, venetian blinds, drapes, drains, vents, windows, radiators, woodwork, formica, fire extinguisher boxes, shower curtains, entrances and entry glass, trashcans, microwaves, ovens, refrigerators, doors, door frames and overhead pipes.

Position Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Due to the duties of this position, candidates are required to be at least 18 years of age. Willingness to: perform duties associated with commercial cleaning, including operating industrial-type cleaning equipment such as high-speed buffers and vacuum cleaners; cleaning restrooms, bath facilities, locker rooms, swimming pools, and/or similar facilities; dusting and washing a variety of building surfaces such as shelves, window sills, walls and floors;
moving heavy items such as tables, chairs, and bleachers; repairing the equipment and related devices operated in cleaning.
Preferred Qualifications
- Any experience that indicates a skill level necessary to perform any of the assigned custodial tasks. Demonstrated attitude toward customer satisfaction and continuous quality service improvement. Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team and cooperate with others. Demonstrated reliability/dependability through work history, school or references.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
- Physical ability to: bend, stoop, lift, carry, and/or otherwise move items weighing up to approximately 50 pounds; move continuously throughout the shift; climb and stand on ladders.
Working Conditions:
Be able to work in adverse weather conditions.
