Scion is paving a path in student living and the Facilities Manager is a keystone team member in the execution of our vision. This position ensures safety and functionality of the property’s buildings and equipment and ensures optimal service is carried out by the onsite Facilities team and any third‑party vendors.

The Facilities Manager is a subject matter expert and experienced leader who excels in a fast‑paced, agile, collegiate environment. This role demands superior problem solving, leadership and unwavering follow through. Those in the Facilities Manager position may also be asked to assist other properties.

Your Responsibilities
  • Manage all building services and preventative maintenance programs to the best of industry practices, the Scion’s Standard Operating Procedures, and in compliance with State/Federal Govt./OSHA’s codes and regulations.
  • Oversee day‑to‑day operations of HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, general building maintenance, building automation systems, and building maintenance.
  • Monitor systems and provide diagnostics, preventative maintenance, annual testing, permitting, and certification for all major building systems including chilled water, air handling units, boilers, hot & cold water distribution, BAS, electrical distribution, generators, UPS, elevators, roof systems, and exterior building envelope.
  • Operate and manage all life‑safety systems such as fire pumps, fire alarm monitoring panels, sprinkler systems, alarms, back‑flow prev enters, smoke detectors, CO₂ sensors, fire extinguishers, emergency lighting, and means of egress.
  • Prioritize and schedule maintenance work, ensuring quality consistent with Scion’s standards.
  • Manage and supervise Facilities Technicians to complete service requests accurately and on time.
  • Review completed work to verify conformance to standards and identify repairs.
  • Ensure all emergency, routine, and preventive maintenance is performed promptly and professionally.
  • Conduct regular inspection tours of buildings, common areas, and surrounding grounds for deficiencies and potential safety, health or code problems.
  • Prepare written reports summarizing findings and recommend actions.
  • Oversee “turn” preparation and vacated unit inspection to ensure quality and readiness for occupancy.
  • Manage maintenance spare parts and tool inventory, maintaining appropriate stock levels.
  • Coordinate deliveries, schedules, and performance of all facility‑related work and ensure adherence to safety procedures and personal protective equipment use.
  • Effectively implement standard operating procedures and preventive maintenance programs according to Scion’s protocols.
  • Participate in emergency preparedness planning and act as essential personnel during emergencies.
  • Escalate urgent repairs or replacements to the General Manager and Regional Facilities Manager.
  • Maintain records of all major systems including manuals, manufacturer specifications, warranties, and equipment.
  • Collaborate with the General Manager and Regional Facilities Manager to manage facilities and capital projects.
  • Hire, train, and develop Facilities team members, holding them accountable for high performance.

What We Require
  • High school diploma/GED, trade school diploma, or military training.
  • 8 years of relevant experience managing building systems in multi‑unit residential properties, with 5 years of supervisory experience.
  • 5 years’ experience with building automation and life‑safety systems.
  • EPA 608 Universal certification.
  • HVAC/EPA 608 Universal certification.
  • Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification or intent to obtain within six months.
  • Expertise in plumbing, HVAC, electrical and mechanical systems, and generally accepted maintenance practices.
