What's the job?

The Maintenance Manager is responsible for leadership of the maintenance team as they maximize reliability of designated plant equipment while ensuring employee safety and product quality while operating within the framework of Certain Teed Gypsum’s Vision, Mission, values and objectives.

• Supervise and lead the maintenance team.
• Mentor, coach, and support the Planner and TPMs.
• Responsible for planning, evaluating, organizing, and implementing assigned installation, maintenance and repair activities and coordinating with other departments to assure minimum downtime for production and maximum safety of employees.
• Accountable for safety management of employees, to include completion of safety audits and inspections, safety meetings, investigations of reported incidents required job and safety training.
• Identifies and executes development for the maintenance team in both technical and soft skills
• Works with maintenance personnel to ensure correct prioritization and timely completion of all work orders and sets out work on a weekly or day to day basis.
• Works with planners and stores room coordinator to ensure spares holding is optimized and coherent with the Professional Maintenance equipment requirements.
• Ensures Professional Maintenance (PM) is accomplished in a timely manner and are to a high standard of quality.
• Maintains records of plant and individual equipment performance and any regulatory records regarding maintenance i.e. fire systems.
• Plan, utilize and manage outside contractors as necessary.
• Train and supervise employees of the maintenance department.
• Ensure that Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) follow company guidelines.
• Manage day-to-day maintenance needs according to company needs, initiatives, and goals.
• Identify and implement process improvements.
• Work cross-functionally with the plant management team.
• Maintain effective relationship with the Union Leadership.
• Progressively improves the Professional Maintenance status of all equipment on a prioritized basis using WCM techniques and practices
• Performs root cause analysis as well as implement sustainable countermeasures on losses related to maintenance.
• Interacts with managers and supervisors at plant and corporate personnel to secure appropriate resources to plan and implement projects.
• Monitor expenses and control the budget for maintenance
• Lead and develop PM’s that drive improved reliability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Electrical or Engineering, or similar discipline or equivalent work experience.
• Five(5) to ten (10) years manufacturing, coaching, teaching or military experience.
• Two (2) years’ experience as a manager and two (2) years direct or indirect supervisory experience.
• More than three years’ experience with LEAN Manufacturing techniques.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
