JOB SUMMARY

The Maintenance Technician 3 plays a crucial role in ensuring the continuous operation and optimal performance of a variety of equipment and machinery. This position involves assisting operators with daily maintenance requests, performing advanced troubleshooting, and actively participating in and leading preventive maintenance (PM) activities. The Maintenance Technician 3 will be responsible for equipment rebuilds and fabrication when necessary, and will collaborate closely with the Maintenance Manager, Electronic Technicians, and building maintenance teams on various projects.

This role also includes training and mentoring other technicians, fostering a proactive and efficient maintenance environment.

Responsibilities and Activities:

• Executes equipment tear-downs and rebuilds as required for effective troubleshooting and repair.
• Ensures that all equipment is functioning properly and efficiently, minimizing downtime.
• Orders and installs replacement parts, managing inventory as needed.
• Performs routine and advanced maintenance and repairs on a variety of equipment and machinery.
• Identifies and repairs complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic problems.
• Conducts machine set-ups for production operations, ensuring readiness and efficiency.
• Responds promptly to equipment "red lights" to troubleshoot mechanical problems and resolve material issues.
• Conducts comprehensive preventive maintenance activities, including lubrication, and strictly adhere to PM schedules.
• Monitors equipment performance, makes necessary adjustments, and identifies potential problems proactively.
• Keeps accurate and detailed records of all maintenance and repairs performed.
• Adheres to all safety procedures and regulations, including lock-out/tag-out and Haz Com.
• Maintains a clean, organized, and safe work area at all times.
• Performs additional responsibilities as required to ensure the team's overall success.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent.

Work Experience:

• Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in a maintenance technician role, demonstrating strong electrical and mechanical expertise.
• Proven experience with maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing a range of equipment, including but not limited to inserters, conveyors, bowes, and forklifts.
• Experience with direct mail manufacturing and press equipment is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Strong troubleshooting skills, mechanical aptitude, and in-depth knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic principles, coupled with exceptional problem-solving and analytical abilities focused on continuous improvement.
• Demonstrated leadership, including the ability to train, assist, and mentor other technicians.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, coupled with strong organizational and prioritization abilities.
• Proficiency in running air lines, conduit, and wiring for new and relocated equipment.
• Familiarity with predictive/productive maintenance systems and preventive maintenance programs.
• Adherence to safety procedures (OSHA, lock-out/tag-out, Haz Com) and departmental SOPs.
• Ability to work independently or collaboratively, learn new skills, be accountable, and perform physical duties under pressure with a flexible schedule.
