SCIT Tribal members are invited to apply for a 1-year apprenticeship that develops skills and knowledge to advance to Building Maintenance Worker positions. Upon successful completion, apprentices may be promoted to Building Maintenance Worker, potentially requiring a shift change depending on staffing.

• Duration: 1 year apprenticeship
• Full-time, 1st shift (M-F, 7A‑3P)
• Wage: $14.55 per hour
• Open to SCIT Tribal members only

• Complete all apprenticeship modules:
  Building Orientation, Safety/SOP Review, Work Protocols, Television Repairs, Plumbing Repairs, Formica Repair, Flooring Repair, Electrical Repairs, Lift Training and Certification, Wallpaper/Painting, Door Repair, Hotel Repairs, Fire Alarm Systems, Power Washer Operation, HVAC Operation.
• Work first shift and rotate between hotel and casino maintenance to gain diverse experience.
• Perform housekeeping and grounds work as needed.
• Comply with all safety regulations.
• Attend required training and meetings.
• Provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers; maintain confidentiality and a professional demeanor.
• Maintain positive relationships with staff, requesting departments, facility divisions, and guests.
• Assist with guest assistance job requests and repair in occupied rooms.
• Adaptable to changing duties and organizational needs.

• 18 years of age or older.
• Must be a Saginaw Chippewa Tribal Member.
• Valid Michigan Driver’s License; able to obtain and maintain a Tribal Driver’s License and qualify for coverage by SCIT auto liability insurance carrier.

• Follow written and verbal instructions.
• Communicate efficiently and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
• Establish and maintain positive working relationships with employees and the public.
• Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
• Work independently and meet strict timelines.

• Frequent use of hands, wrists, fingers with repair equipment.
• Strenuous physical exertion (climbing ladders, lifting up to 50 pounds).
• Stand, walk, and reach for extended periods; occasional sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• Required vision, ability to talk, hear.

• Indoor and outdoor settings, including extreme hot/cold weather.
• Potential exposure to chemicals, hazardous materials, moving parts.
• Work performed in wet, damp, cramped, or close areas.
• Possible extended hours, irregular shifts, evenings, overnight, holidays, weekends.
• Travel may be required.
