General Maintenance Specialist - Residential Hall

The Part-Time General Maintenance Worker supports the daily operation and upkeep of Denmark Tech's residential living complexes by performing routine and minor maintenance, basic repairs, preventive maintenance, and general facility support.

The position is intended to provide timely attention to minor maintenance needs within the living complexes while identifying and reporting issues that require specialized, licensed, or major Facilities support.

• Perform routine and minor maintenance within the living complexes, common areas, and other assigned residential spaces.
• Complete basic repairs to doors, locks, handles, hinges, cabinets, furniture, shelving, blinds, and similar items.
• Replace light bulbs, batteries, filters, and other basic building components as appropriate.
• Perform minor plumbing-related tasks such as unclogging sinks and toilets, replacing toilet seats, and addressing other basic issues that do not require licensed or specialized work.
• Perform minor wall repairs, patching, touch-up painting, and other basic cosmetic repairs.
• Assemble, move, adjust, and make minor repairs to residential furniture and equipment.
• Inspect student rooms, common areas, bathrooms, laundry areas, hallways, and other residential spaces for maintenance concerns.
• Assist with room preparation and facility readiness before student move-in and following student move-out.
• Conduct routine preventive maintenance checks and document identified concerns.
• Respond to assigned maintenance requests and communicate the status of completed or unresolved work.
• Identify maintenance concerns that require additional Facilities support and promptly refer those issues through the established work-order or reporting process.
• Assist with minor exterior upkeep immediately surrounding the living complexes when assigned.
• Maintain an organized inventory of basic maintenance tools, equipment, and supplies.
• Properly use and secure tools, equipment, and materials.
• Follow all applicable safety procedures and immediately report unsafe conditions.
• Coordinate with Housing & Residence Life/Campus Experience and Facilities personnel to minimize disruption to students while maintenance work is being performed.
• Maintain professional conduct when entering or working near student living spaces.

High school diploma or GED preferred.

Previous experience in general maintenance, facilities, residential property maintenance, construction, or a related field preferred. Basic knowledge of common hand and power tools. General knowledge of routine building maintenance and repair. Ability to identify when a maintenance concern requires specialized Facilities support. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Ability to work independently and manage assigned tasks.

Ability to interact professionally with students, employees, visitors, and contractors.

Valid driver's license is required.
