Job Overview

The Janitor is responsible for maintaining a clean, sanitary, and safe environment in all assigned areas. This role involves cleaning and upkeep of various facilities, ensuring all areas are properly sanitized, and handling various cleaning equipment and materials. The janitor should have attention to detail, the ability to work independently, and physical stamina to handle cleaning duties efficiently.

• Perform general cleaning duties such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, and vacuuming in assigned areas.
• Clean and sanitize restrooms, breakrooms, kitchens, and office spaces.
• Empty trash and recycling bins, replace liners, and dispose of waste in designated areas.
• Refill supplies such as soap, paper towels, and toilet paper as needed.
• Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors using appropriate tools and cleaning agents.
• Perform routine maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs or reporting broken items.
• Operate and maintain cleaning equipment such as floor scrubbers, buffers, and vacuums.
• Routine upkeep of exterior areas including parking lots.
• Follow health and safety standards to ensure the workplace is safe and sanitary.
• Collaborate with other staff to ensure the facility is cleaned to company standards.
• Respond to emergency cleaning situations such as spills or incidents promptly.
• Other duties, as assigned.

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous experience in janitorial or custodial work is a plus but not required.
• Knowledge of cleaning supplies, chemicals, and procedures.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and manage time effectively.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong attention to detail and thoroughness in completing tasks.
• Ability to lift and carry objects up to 50 pounds occasionally.
• Good physical stamina and mobility to handle long periods of standing, bending, and lifting.
• Ability to communicate effectively written and verbal.
• Flexibility to work varying shifts, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
